Do you want to work as a musician? I mean *really* work as a musician - not just on the weekends in your friend’s garage.

Are you already an established musician, and wondering how to take your career to the next level?

I can show you how!

Hello!

My name is Marty Buttwinick and I’ve written a series of books that might be helpful to you or someone you know.  They are called the “MUSICIANS’ HOW-TO SERIES,” and they are based on my original book called HOW TO MAKE A LIVING AS A MUSICIAN — So You Never Have to Have a Day Job Again!

I’ve been a working musician for thirty-five years and a private instructor for more than twenty. I’ve played clubs, show circuits, performed and/or recorded for ABC and NBC, have recorded hundreds of demos, played original rock shows, symphonies, made a few albums, played a zillion casuals and have been heard on soap operas and jingles.  I’ve played almost every kind of gig you can imagine.  I mention this because I’m just a regular guy — who’s done nothing but music my entire life.  Because this is all I’ve ever done, I know how to do it.

Justin Meldel-Johnsen (Bassist / Producer / Songwriter - Beck, Tori Amos, Air, Ima Robot, Mach Gray, Dixie Chicks, Seal).

“One can learn how to play from many sources, but these books provide information that I’ve only learned by hard experience, word-of-mouth, and investigation. To have things codified in this way provides a seldom-taught foundation to one’s musical life...This is great stuff!”

Because I have more than twenty-five thousand hours of teaching under my belt, I know the questions people ask about the music biz: they’ve been asked of me.  Because of my personal experience I know the answers.  I’ve worked and talked shop with some of the best players around and know how they’ve lead their careers as well.

After answering these same questions hundreds of times I decided to write a book, and that book was called HOW TO MAKE A LIVING AS A MUSICIAN — So You Never Have to Have a Day Job Again!

Berklee College of Music

“If you are a freelance musician this is required reading.”

Guitar Player Magazine

“Remarkably thorough…”

Bass Player Magazine

“A practical guide to earning a steady income.”

L.A. Jazz Scene

“This is a book that should be in every budding musician’s library...”

Beside the industry liking my books, now my students read them, get the answers, and we get on with the lesson.  Students have spent hundreds of dollars of lesson time with career questions, which is normal - but now we spend moments.  These books are saving people hundreds of dollars in time spent talking, and eliminating a great deal of effort and career heartbreaks.  Going about things correctly the first time around makes life a whole lot easier.  And if you've been around awhile, getting armed with new information can certainly make things go smoother.
I first got the idea to write a book when a student of mine brought a similar book to his lesson with some career questions.  I borrowed the book, read it, and thought... close, but not quite complete.  I got another book about the business and was similarly disappointed with what I read.  These two books either left out very important information, over-emphasized the wrong thing, or were really books on how to be a professional piano player (which is great if you're a piano player!).  I couldn’t find a book that gave all the information needed that would be useful for practically any instrument.

There was always something important left out!

While doing research to find something published that actually answered the many questions my students had been asking, I found books on songwriting, getting record deals, playing instruments and other related topics.  But there was nothing that was the straight story on getting a guy who wanted to do music out from behind the burger counter — out doin’ music!

That’s what my books do!

These books are the road map to creating a career playing music.  It’s the guide to help you get the career you want.  Now, if you don’t want to play full-time and don’t have any professional aspirations these materials are still a vital tool as they show you how to organize your life, choose what instrument to play, different ways to jam with friends and other topics that make life easier.

Besides addressing the many topics my students have asked over the years, I researched and interviewed many professional musicians to find out exactly what their personal successful actions were, and what they felt were the most important things others need to know.

Though these books are mainly for players and singers to have all the tools they need to create the career they want, I’ve also included interviews with experts in other areas of the music business so they could share their successful actions.  These interviews include Grammy-winning songwriter, David Pomeranz and multi-platinum arranger David Campbell.

The “MUSICIANS’ HOW-TO SERIES” is street-smart and success oriented.  The information is presented so it can easily be put to use, and includes new and unique approaches to personal motivation.  They are down-to-earth books that achieves real-life results.  Regardless of the instrument you play or the styles of music you like, they cover it all, and contain information not found in other books or schools.

My books just might be ultimate guides to following your musical dreams.

If you’re not already doing exactly what you want with your musical life — you need these books! If I can do it, you can do it!

Sincerely,

Marty Buttwinick

Let’s see those books!
